Hello Triboro Nation,
We are thrilled to share an exciting development for our league! Beginning this season, our Majors Division will transition to a larger 50/70 field, marking a significant step toward enhancing player development and preparing our athletes for higher levels of baseball.
🌟 Why We’re Making This Change
A better path to the high school field
The jump from a 46/60 field to the 60/90 field used at the high school level can be intimidating for young players. By introducing the 50/70 intermediate field, we are helping athletes build confidence, strength, and field awareness before taking on the full‑sized diamond.
A more advanced baseball experience
At the 50/70 level, players will be introduced to key elements of “real baseball,” including:
- Leading off bases
- Live ball stealing at any time
- More dynamic defensive play
These features create a more competitive environment and mirror the style of play at the 60/90 level.
Supporting a wider range of players
The 50/70 division will be open to players ages 10–13, offering an ideal developmental option for athletes who may not be ready for the full-sized field. For safety reasons, Triboro Little League may still move 10‑year‑old players to Majors when appropriate.
âšľ Building Skills for the Future
We believe this upgrade will:
- Strengthen player skills
- Improve game understanding
- Ease the transition to larger field sizes
- Prepare athletes for high school—and potentially collegiate—baseball
This is an exciting step forward for our program and a meaningful investment in our players’ growth and success.
